Helen Moat spent her childhood squished between siblings in her Dad’s Morris Minor, travelling the length and breadth of Ireland. She’s still wandering … and writing about it.
An established travel writer, she is now exploring the alien world of flash fiction. She likes the fact that she can create her own micro journeys and encounters.
The idea for Double Espresso is simple, but neat. Take two writers – Helen and a guest whose writing she admires – and both of them write a flash fiction of the same title. And hey pesto, you have a double espresso – two small, intense shots of flavour.
As an added twist, Helen has taken the titles from the Peak District OS maps. Some of the tors, valleys and moorlands in the area have strange names that make an interesting and challenging prompt for the writers.
